ONE YEAR BEHIND AND ANOTHER ONE AHEAD!

Vuosi 2014 alkaa olla lopuillaan ja mikä vuosi tämä onkaan ollut!
The year 2014 is ending and what a year it has been!

Vuoden 2013 loppupuolella päätin viimein laittaa elämäni remonttiin ja päästä liikakiloista eroon. Ihan tavoitteeseeni en päässyt mutta melko huikea se olikin. Vuosi 2014 alkoi Desucon Frostbitellä, mihin mennessä olin laihtunut noin kymmenen kiloa mutta kiinteytys (ja painonpudotus) oli vielä kesken.
At the end of the year 2013 I finally decided to put my life in order and loose all the extra weight I had gained. I didn't manage to get where I wanted but the results were great nevertheless. Year 2014 started with Desucon Frostbite and by then I had loosed weight about 10kg but I was still in the middle of firming myself and the weightloss.

Frostbiteen tein Fairy Tailin Erzan Robe of Yüenin ja whiplasherille Mystoganin. Hahmojen propit veivät autossa tuhottomasti tilaa, sillä emme ehtineet sahata kepakkoja pienemmiksi ja ne tuottivat suurta ärsytystä jatkuvasti. Pidimme photoshoottia ulkona, missä oli tuhottoman kylmä ja whiplasher oli kipeä ja vielä kipeämpi photoshootin jälkeen. Lumessa ja kylmässä liikkuminen oli tuskaa ja jalkineet olivat liian hepposet talviconiin.
To Frostbite I made costumes from Fairy Tail: Erza's Robe of Yûen to myself and Mystogan for whiplasher. The props took a lot of space in the car because we didn't have the time to saw them and they were reallyannoying. We had a photoshoot outdoors and it was freezing cold. Of course, whiplasher was sick and even sicker after the photoshoot. Moving in the snow and cold air were pure pain and the shoes were too sloppy for a winter convention.

Erzan peruukki meni myös jatkuvasti solmuun ja minä kammostelin käsieni alleja...  Sunnuntaina minulla oli Magista Yamuraiha, eikä asun rintojen suojana olevat softis-simpukat meinanneet pysyä kiinni vaikka mikä oli. Vajaa kahden tunnin jälkeen asu oli pakko vaihtaa pois, sillä en halunnut esitellä rintavarustustani kaikille, eikä rikkinäisessä asussa muutenkaan ollut kiva olla. Hyviä kuvia kaikesta huolimatta saatiin tässä lyhyessä ajassa!
Erza's wig went always to a knot and I hated my fats under my arms... On Sunday I was wearing Yamuraiha from Magi and the softis-shells covering my breasts didn't stay up, no matter what I tried! In less than two hours I needed to change back to my normal clothes because I didn't want to show everyone booobs and I really didn't enjoy wearing a costume that was kind of broken. But we managed to get some nice pictures in a short time!

Vaikka cosseissa oli paljon ärsytystä ja parantamisen varaa, oli viikonloppu silti todella ihana! Kaverini tuli mukaan Fairy Tail ryhmäcossiin ja yksi uusi kaveri lähti mukaan conittamaan kanssamme. Kaverit pelastivat, kun cossit feilasivat!
Even though I felt like there were a lot of irritation and improvning to do, I still really enjoyed the weekend! A friend of mine came with us to our Fairy Tail group cosplay and a new friend became inspired about cosplay and conventions. My friends saved me when my costumes failed me!

Seuraava tapahtuma olikin kovin odotettu Cosvision. Sinne sain valmiiksi Magista Ren Gyokuenin ja olin todella ylpeä asusta. Mielestäni asu onnistui todella hyvin ja sen kanssa oli mukava olla. Siellä tapasin myös Sipsinekun, jonka kanssa pidimme photoshoottia hänen Hakuryu-asunsa kanssa.
The next convention was Cosvision that I really looked forward to. I managed to do Ren Gyokuen from Magi and I was really pround about the costume. I think it worked out quite well and I really enjoyed wearing it. There I also met Sipsinekku and we had a great photoshoot with her Hakuryu-costume.

Sain myös whiplasherille valmiiksi Ezion Assassin's Creedista ja mielestäni asu onnistui todella hyvin. Toki sitä piti tuleviin tapahtumiin parannella mutta ensiesiintymiseksi asu oli todella onnistunut! Olin hyvin ylpeä, kun näin kätteni jäljen jonkun muun päällä.
I also finished Ezio from Assassin's Creed to whiplasher and it was a great succes! Sure, I had to improve the costume a bit afterwards but as a debut, it was really well done. And I was really proud when I saw my handiwork on someone else.

Cosvision oli muutenkin todella ihana ja täydellinen tapahtuma: kiinnostavaa ohjelmaa oli todella paljon, toimivat tilat, sopivasti ihmisiä ja paljon cosplaykisoja. Pidin myös korjatun Yamuraiha-asun kanssa ystäväni kanssa ohjelmaa sunnuntaina, mistä sain lisää esiintymiskokemusta.
All together, Cosvision was a wonderfull and perfect convention: there were a lot of interesting programs, the premises were functional, there were nice enough of people and a lot of cosplay competitions. I also wore my fixed Yamuraiha-costume and had a programme with my friend on Sunday and I got a lot of experience from that.

Kikucon tuli todella nopeasti Cosvisionin jälkeen ja siellä osalistun Gyokuenina cosplaykisaan, missä sijoituin kolmanneksi ja olin myös yleisön suosikki. Kokemus oli todella ihana ja rohkaiseva vaikka olinkin kipeä kyseisenä viikonloppuna. Sain myös tehtyä Gyokuenin kepakon kisaan, mikä onnistui omasta mielestäni ihan hyvin.
Kikucon came really fast after Cosvision and there I participated as Gyokuen to a cosplay competition. I got in third place and was a audience's favourite. The experience was really great and encouraging even though I was sick during that weekend. I also did Gyokuen's prop to the competitions and it worked out guite well.

Kisan aikana oli todella kiva tutustua kanssakisaajiin ja näin ihan uuden puolen tapahtumasta. Kisaajana ja lavan takana oli hauskaa vaikka jännitys olikin suuri!
During the competition I really liked getting to know other contestant and saw a whole new side of conventions. As a contestant and behind the stage I had a really fun time even though I was really nervous!

Hypeconiin lähdimme whiplasherin kanssa, sillä halusin lisää kokemusta ohjelman pitämisestä ja kisaamisesta. Pienet tapahtumat sopivat minulle kisoissa aloittamiseen, sillä jännitän todella paljon yleisön edessä. Ohjelman pitäminen sujui mielestäni kivasti ja sitä oli hauskaa pitää.
We decided to go to Hypecon with whiplasher because I wanted more experience in keeping programs and participating in competitions. Little conventions works for me when starting competitions because I'm so nervous in front of a audience. The program went well and I enjoyed keeping it.

Osallistuin kisaan Erzan Grand Magic Gamesin asulla ja asu oli todella merkittävä minulle. Ensinnäkin sain sen tehtyä viikossa (olin kipeänä, enkä ehtinyt aloittaa asua aiemmin) ja olin siihen mennessä laihtunut 25kg ja kiinteytymistä oli jo ehtinyt tapahtua. Vaikka tiedostin, että minulla yhä edelleen on läskiä vaikka muille jakaa, päätin silti tehdä tämän hieman paljastavan asun ja osallistua kisaan. Oli myös todella kiva tavata tuomarit (etenkin Yumi, joka on minun cosplayidolini!) ja heidän kommenttinsa olivat todella kannustavat!
I participated in cosplay competition with Erza's Grand Magic Games dress and it really meant a lot to me. Firstly, I made in about a week (I was sick and couldn't start it earlier) and by then I had lost 25kg and it showed. Even though I still had a lot of extra weight on me that I could share for everyone, I still decided to do this a bit revealing outfit and participate. It was really nice to see all the judges (especially Yumi, since she is my cosplayidol!) and their comments were really encouraging!

Hypeconin jälkeen pidin vielä Ducktape Galleriesin ylläpitäjän kanssa photoshoottia, missä kuvautin sekä Erzan että Gyokuenin asut. Meillä oli todella hauskaa photoshoottia pitämässä ja sain loistavia kuvia!
After Hypecon I had a photoshoot with the founder of Ducktape Galleries since I wanted better pictures from Erza and Gyokuen. We had a blast with the photoshoot and I think we had amazing pictures!

Kesän ajan sain olla melko rauhassa, sillä seuraava tapahtuma oli vasta Tracon ja ehdin jopa kesälomaa viettää! Traconiin sain juuri ja juuri tehtyä Torahimen pelisarjasta Muramasa. Asua ja proppeja oli todella hauskaa, mielenkiintoista ja opettavaista tehdä. Rakastin kypärääni ja sillä erotuin joukosta todella hyvin. Armorit olivat kivat mutta niiden kanssa minusta tuntui, että lantioni leveni tuplasti. Mutta en antanut sen haitata.
During the summer I decided to have some quiet time since next convention would be Tracon and I wnated to spend my summer vacation thinking about nothing! This is why I only just about finished my Torahime costume from the game Muramasa. I had a great time making the costume and making props were really fun, interesting and educating. I really fell in love with my helmet and I stood out from the crowd well. I really liked the armors but it fellt like my hips were twice as wide! But I tried not to let it bother...

Traconiin menin jälleen ohjelmanpitäjäksi ja olin todella innoissani, kun ohjelmaa tuli niin moni seuraamaan! Ohjelman pitäminen oli hauskaa teknisistä vaikeuksista huolimatta! Traconissa tunnelma oli muutenkin katossa, sillä paikalla oli todella paljon kavereita, pidimme photoshoottia ja uskalsin mennä moikkaamaan cossaajia, joiden blogeja seuraan.
At Tracon I held a program yet again ja I was super excited to see how many came to see it! I had a fun time having the program even though I had a few technival issues... The athmostphere at Tracon was amazing because there were a lot of my friends, we had photoshoots and I found the courage to go and say hi to many cosplayers who's blogs I read.

Tein myös Halloweeniksi kurpitsa-asun itselleni vaikka se ei varsinaisesti cosplayasu olekaan.
I also made a little pumpkin costume for Halloween to myself though it's not really a cosplay costume.

Luulin, että asut olisivat Traconin jälkeen tältä vuodelta tehty, mutta never say never! Innostuin tekemaan Bleachin Matsumoto Rangikun tämän vuoden joulukalenteriani varten ja kävin ystäväni Ducktape Galleriesin ylläpitäjän kanssa pitämässä photoshoottia asun kanssa.
I thought all the costumes were done for this year but never say never! I got excited to do Matsumoto Rangiku from Bleach to my Christmas Calendar this year. I had the photoshoot with the founder of Ducktape Galleries.

Asuja tuli tänä vuonna tehtyä enemmän mitä ajattelin, paljon enemmän. Tosin suurin osa asuista oli melko yksinkertaisia ja tein ne melkein jokaisen 1-2 viikossa. Eniten aikaa veivät Ezio ja Torahime.
I did a lot more costumes this year than I originally thought I would, a LOT more. Sure, most of then were really simple ones and I made them about 1-2 weeks. Most time consuming costumes were Ezio and Torahime.

Ensi vuodesta en osaa sanoa juuri mitään. Emme ole lyöneet lukkoon, mihin kaikkiin tapahtumiin olemme menossa, joskin ainoat varmat ovat Yukicon ja Tracon. Yritämme päästä mahdollisimman moneen tapahtumaan mutta ne selviävät lähempänä ajankohtaa ja töiden aikataulujen mukaan.
I can't really tell anything about next year. We haven't quite decided to what conventions we want to go, though we are going to Yukicon and Tracon for sure. We try and get to go as many conventions as possible but it will all be a lot more clearer once the conventions are closer and we know our work-schedule.

Yritän myös panostaa asuihin enemmän, enkä tehdä niitä liian kiireellä. Tänäkin vuonna ajatuksena oli tehdä 2-3 asua/nassu mutta omalla kohdalla se ei ihan onnistunut. Kaksi asua toteutui kyllä whiplasherin kohdalla mutta itselle tein tänä vuonna kuusi asua.
I also try and put a lot more effort to my costumes and try not to do them in a hurry. This year I was supposed to do about 2-3 costumer per person but in my case, it didn't quite succeeded. Yes, I made two costumes for whiplasher but I made six costumes for myself.

Vahingossahan tuo lukumäärä pääsi käymään. Mutta tykästyin tekemään yksinkertaisia asuja, mihin ei todellakaan mene kuin pari viikkoa. Käyn kokopäivätöissä eli minulta ei aina vain löydy energiaa juuri minkään tekemiseen.
That number was a bit of a accident. But I really liked doing simple costumes that aren't so time consuming. I'm working full-time so I don't always just have the energy to do anything.

Yukicon on kuitenkin jo kohta oven takana ja siitä on tulossa myös pikainen päivitys ennen tapahtumaa. Ajatuksia asujen suhteen on paljon mutta olen päättänyt tehdä vähän vähemmän asuja ja innostua asuista enemmän ennen kuin alan niitä tehdä! Joulukalenterista voi käydä lukemassa cosplaysuunnitelmiani, mikä on siis lista asuista mitkä joskus haluaisin tehdä mutta mitään varmaa niiden kohtalosta ei ole.
Yukicon is almost behind the door and I will make short update about it before the convention. There are a lot of thoughts going on about next year's costmes but I've decided to do a bit less costumes and get more inspired about them before I start making them! You can go and check my Christmas Calendar about all my cosplay plans that is only a list of all the costumes I would really like to make but I'm not sure about their destinies.
